Skin Cell Regeneration
New research from Cornell University in the U.S. points to a possible need to change our thinking about skin regeneration. What we once thought was that there were slowly dividing, rare, and short-lived cells that were responsible for skin healing. It appears that there are two lines of cells that are able to assist in skin regrowth. These cells can actually help repair damaged areas of the other stem cell type after an injury, in effect healing the other line of stem cells This exciting research may lead to new developments in the treatment of cancer with stem cells as well as genetic modifications.
